You often need to start wide to ensure all the subjects are safely in the frame, and then quickly start zooming in tight as the aircraft fly closer to the crowd line. If you were stuck using a fixed focal length prime lens for a routine like this, you would absolutely miss the shot. This telephoto zoom guarantees you are always ready for the unpredictable nature of aviation events.
The Compact Travel Companion: Canon RF 70-200mm f/4 L IS USM
Rounding out my kit is what I genuinely consider the greatest travel telephoto zoom lens Canon has ever made. The Canon RF 70-200mm f/4 L IS USM is unbelievably compact.
